On May 12-13, 2026, the Working Group on Technical Issues of the Danube Commission (DC) was held in Budapest (Hungary). Ukrainian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shipping Administration, SE “Ukrainian Sea Port Authority”, State Hydrography Service of Ukraine, the SE “Shipping Register of Ukraine”, PJSC “Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company” and the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy”. The Head of the River Information Service Captain Illya Tykhonov participated in the event from the side of the SE “UKRVODSHLIAH”. Were discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of inland navigation, in particular, the development of river information services in the Danube region, the development of autonomous navigation, updating the navigation rules on the Danube, requirements for the training of river vessel personnel, navigation and hydrological conditions on the Danube, cross-border activities, development of port and logistics services, technical requirements for vessels, security of navigation on the Danube, modernization of the Danube fleet and reduction of air pollution from vessels, radio communication issues. Most of these issues directly related to the functioning and development of the RIS and will be taken into account during the implementation of the "UkrRIS-Danube" project.
