Participation in the events of the Danube Commission on personnel training on inland waterways on January 28-29, 2026.

On January 28-29th, 2026, in Budapest (Hungary), the Danube Commission held events on personnel training on inland waterways: - seminar "Training and professional training in inland navigation" in cooperation with the European educational network EDINNA (Education in Inland Navigation); - meeting of experts on personnel issues in the field of navigation on the Danube. Representatives of the Danube countries and Danube administrative bodies took part in the events. In the on-line format, representatives of the SE "UKRVODSHLIAH" took part in the events. During the events, a wide range of issues were discussed regarding: the training of inland navigation vessel personnel, training programs, health requirements, control over the content and approval of training programs, the transition to digital technologies during theoretical and practical training, existing personnel problems, labor mobility, both periodic and promotion-related advanced training, the use of simulators equipment, recognition by national administrations of education obtained in other countries, etc. The representative of the Ministry for Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Matviy Tereshchuk, presented information on Ukraine's implementation of EU Directive 2017/2397. During the events, issues directly related to the development of RIS and related to the implementation of the “UkrRIS-Danube project” were discussed, in particular, obtaining knowledge by skippers regarding the use of RIS systems and relevant ships` equipment, use of electronic navigational charts, the use of the EuRIS portal, interaction during cross-border operations, interaction with RIS, with regulatory authorities on waterways: inspectors of river administrations, police, customs, ports and other authorities.
