On November, 5th-6th, 2025, a meeting of the Working Group on Technical Issues of the Danube Commission (DC) was held in Budapest (Hungary). The Ukrainian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shipping Administration, Ukraine Sea Ports Authorities, State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine, Shipping Register of Ukraine and Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company. Head of the River Information Service captain Illya Tykhonov participated from the State Enterprise "UKRVODSHLIAH". At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Ukrainian delegation reported on the systematic violation by the russian federation of free and safe navigation regime on the Danube, the constant continuation of attacks with drones and missiles. As a result of these attacks, port facilities, infrastructure, ships and vehicles are destroyed, people are killed and injured. The meeting discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of inland navigation, in particular, the modernization of the Danube fleet and the reduction of air pollution from vessels, the issuance of certificates to ship’s crewmembers, the development of radio communications in Danube navigation, ensuring cybersecurity in inland waterway transport, etc. Separately, the issues of the development of river information services (RIS) were discussed, including with the assistance of the European Union to the DC member states in projects related to RIS. The DC Secretariat and representatives of the Danube countries provided information on the development of RIS on European inland waterways. The Ukrainian delegation made a report on the current status of the implementation of the “UkrRIS-Danube” project and the measures taken by the State Enterprise "UKRVODSHLIAH" for its implementation.
