On May 13-14, 2025, a meeting of the Working Group on Technical Issues of the Danube Commission (DC) was held in Budapest (Hungary) under the chairmanship of the Head of the Ukrainian delegation, Dean of the State University of Infrastructure and Technologies Oleksiy Semin. The Ukrainian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shipping Administration, Ukraine Sea Ports Authorities, Shipping Register of Ukraine and Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company. Head of the River Information Service captain Illya Tykhonov participated from the State Enterprise "UKRVODSHLIAH". The meeting discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of inland navigation, including the development of river information services (RIS). In particular, the DC Secretariat and representatives of the Danube countries exchanged information on the analysis of the RIS development on European inland waterways. The European Union assistance to DC member states in RIS related projects was discussed. Illya Tykhonov made a report on Ukraine's experience in concluding a Grant Agreement with the EU for the implementation of "UkrRIS-Danube" project and measures taken by State Enterprise "UKRVODSHLIAH" for its implementation. The meeting also discussed issues related to the revision of Directive 2005/44 EU and the implementing regulations related to the RIS introduction, as well as the new European standard ES-RIS/2025 developed by CESNI, which will come into force on 01.01.2026.
